About Waydroid, sadly the project doesnt seem to do well. They still use Android 13 which is now End-of-Life

https://endoflife.date/android

Also being based on LineageOS with possible "GAPPS" makes it pretty insecure. Using GrapheneOS as base with sandboxed play support would make it way more robust (while still way less secure than GrapheneOS due to the lack of kernel hardening etc).

Also note that Android heavily uses #SELinux for it's app sandbox and security model. Ubuntu Touch, PostmarketOS and maybe others run Apparmor (if anything). There is some compatibility layer, but I dont expect it to be nearly as complete as real SELinux. So not only will you run hacky, end-of-life Android, but probably with a broken sandbox too, which makes this a total mess.

With a better default browser and a way to add websites to the App Grid, I could see this bring a very capable device. However, I'm not an app guy to begin with, I like web stuff because I can use that cross device.

It would have been also cool to hear if f.e. Spotify with Waydroid reliably plays music, also in the background and with the phone being locked. Maybe for the next review 😊
