<description>Mouth taping went viral as a sleep hack, but the research behind it is still small. A recent review of ten studies found a clear benefit in only two. Loud snoring can be a sign of obstructive sleep apnea, where breathing stops or goes shallow again and again overnight. In the Sleep Heart Health Study of 2,656 adults, people with 15 or more breathing pauses an hour had about 1.5 times the odds of high fasting blood sugar, even after accounting for weight. That is an association, not proof that apnea causes high sugar, but repeated stress jolts at night are one likely link to insulin resistance. Tape may make snoring quieter without changing what is happening underneath. If you snore loudly, wake up tired, or someone has heard you stop breathing, a sleep test with your doctor is the place to start. A CGM can also show how your morning numbers change after a rough night versus a good one. Have you tried mouth taping, or had a sleep study? Let's get healthy together. Science, not medical advice.
