Laughter vs. a boring lecture: what it did to blood sugar after lunch

Researchers in Japan gave 19 people with type 2 diabetes the same lunch on two different days. One day they sat through a dull 40-minute lecture. The next day they watched a 40-minute comedy show. After the lecture, their blood sugar climbed about 123 points. After the comedy, it climbed about 77. Same food, and more than a third less of a spike. It's a small study, so I don't want to oversell it. But it may make sense. Stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline push sugar into your blood and make insulin work harder, and living that way every day can feed insulin resistance. Food is still the big lever. That's where I started, and it's how I got my own A1c back into the normal range. But I spent years in corporate life, and stress was part of my story too. I don't do that anymore, and it's made a big difference. So here's your move today. Don't eat lunch hunched over stressful emails. Step away from the desk and put on something that makes you laugh. Let's get healthy together. Science, not medical advice. #BloodSugar #InsulinResistance #Type2Diabetes #StressAndHealth #LaughterIsMedicine
